Description

A Supervised Parenting Time Specialist job is to ensure safe and positive interactions between children and non-custodial parents during court-ordered visits. This role involves monitoring the visits, documenting interactions, intervening when necessary to ensure child safety, and sometimes providing coaching or modeling positive parenting skills.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum BA/BS in Human Services, Psychology, or related field
  • Other Bachelor’s degrees will be accepted with 39 credit hours in human services or education
  • 3 years’ experience providing a service to families that need assistance in the protection and care of their children and/or providing skills training, development, and habilitation.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to use a private vehicle to transport self and others
  • Subcontractor are required to have their own Windows laptop.
  • Auto insurance policy requirements typically include a minimum combined single limit of $1,000,000 for bodily injury and property damage.
  • Annual Clearance Certificate: $20 annual fee for the issuance of the Work Compensation Clearance Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Service Delivery: Ensure initial visit takes place within 48 hours from removal and subsequent visits occur within 5 days of acceptance of referral 1. Services will be provided in the family’s home, community sites, or office (if approved by DCS/Probation), and during transportation for errands necessary to accomplish goals
  • Coordination: Initiate and coordinate supervised parenting time upon acceptance of a referral from the Department of Child Services
  • Visitation Plan: Collaborate with the Child and Family Team (CFT) to develop a thorough Visitation Plan that includes considerations for transportation needs and appropriate visit locations
  • Monitoring and Supervision: Monitor and supervise visits, intervening if necessary to ensure child safety and well-being, and coach and model nurturing parenting approaches
  • Safety Assessment: Continually assess and monitor the child’s safety during visits, addressing any observed safety threats immediately
  • Reporting: Provide thorough and descriptive reporting narratives, within 48-hours, to document visit details and progress towards reunification
  • Provide monthly reports outlining progress toward treatment goals using DCS approved formatting
  • Levels of Supervision: Provide supervision at various levels including Standard Supervision, Enhanced Supervision,  based on the needs of the family
  • Virtual Supervised Parenting Time: Facilitate virtual supervised parenting time when in-person visits are not indicated due to public health considerations or distance
  • Assist Families: Provide transportation if needed to and from visits. 
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality and respect socio-cultural values, personal goals, lifestyle choices, and complex family interactions
  • Court Appearances: May be required to appear in court and provide testimony when requested; Provide updates as it relates to the parenting strengths and needs, as well as the Permanency Plan. Permanency is developed for every child adjudicated as a Child in Need of Services (CHINS) to identify a permanent or long-term arrangement for the care and custody of the child.
  • Team Meetings: Participate in Child and Family Team Meetings (CFTM) when requested by DCS/Probation
  • Availability: Services to families will be available and offered 7 days per week; evenings and weekends are required but scheduled in collaboration with the Subcontractor and assigned referral members/family
